My Friend has a Virus on his Computer that blocks the internet. They got it through a Smiley Bar, you know, like those Google bars or whatever but with smileys. Anyway. I'm supposed to find a way to get rid of it?. Firstly: Do you have any idea what virus it is, Secondly: How do i get rid of it?
 
Thats the first time ive ever heard of a virus that blocks internet ....
1. What's it called? (i.e., how does he know he has this virus)
2. Naturally, run a virus scan
3. Dont let it startup -- the fact that this "smiley" acts as a trigger for the virus means that its stoppable :) Hell even a good firewall can stop it :)
 
The virus Blocks the internet connexion. You can get on the actual internet explorer and go on the home page (Google) but you can't go any further. I've tried refresh too.

I've already Uninstalled the Smiley Bar but the virus is already in the computer.
The problem is the internet. What i need is a program. Do you think Spybot-Search & Destroy could do the job???
 
One word(well acualy a few) avg is a good FREE antivirus and avast is another, and just in case yes use that spybot search and destroy also try adaware se. But a smily bar...

1. A program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes.

2. Here are two pieces of software. Spyware remover and Virus scanner

Thanx for all your advice, as soon as i get to my friends house i'll try all your ideas and tell you if it worked as soon as possible
