viruses and crashing computer...help

HELP. My brother's desk top is extremely slow. I think I know what the problem is but am not sure how to fix it.

He did not secure the computer properly with antivirus software (don't worry...I am using another computer) and I think that there is a virus.

I have tried loading various sotware such as F-secure, AdZone and macafee. Every tme I try to load some antivirus software it crashes. I cant copy the files onto the cd as it comes up with an error message.

please please advise
 
ok could not reboot it but managed to copy some files onto cd and check it with adzone on the laptop.
Found the virus W32.Rontokbro@mm
But the software was not able to clean or qauantine!!!
Suggestions????
 
If you can get a copy of Trend Micro or Norton installed on your pc and update the virus lists, they should remove that virus from your pc.

If not, you can post a hijack this log and someone will help you remove it.
Look in the "Computer Security" section of the forum. Once there, look at the sticky for hijack this log. I believe it's the second one.
