Vista 32 or 64?

I just bought a copy of vista ultimate (has bot 32 and 64 bit available). As im not that up speed on this stuff which is better / more stable and why the difference?
Im running 1gb 400ram (but will be buying another gig) 500HDD, 512 video card and a 1.8 dual core cpu.

Unless you have 4GB+ RAM, there's really no benefit to using 64bit. And, are you sure you've got both? I was thinking the key was only good for one or the other; much the same for Basic/Home/Ultimate.

Unlike XP, which considered the 64bit version a different OS,
Vista comes with both 32 and 64bit discs. Retail versions do anyway.
