Vista Aero Qs

It should work fine but I would upgrade to 2 GB cause thats what I have and when I am just on the internet and listening to music I am using a little over half of my 2GB of ram but it should run fine on your system.

For the Vista Basic version 1gb is actually over the minimum requirement. But for the other four editions get that extra 1gb of ram. You'll need it for multimedia even more then for gaming. Just run WMP 11 for awhile and you will see that for yourself. The HIS brand video card is one thing to watch more closely however. I've been hearing complaints on their version of Radeon cards.

You know the Dreamscene feature is just a little novelty function that will wear off in a very short time. I have 2GB of RAM and downloaded to see what the fuss is about, true it looks cool, but the fact of the matter is, is it practical and the answer is NO. For me I don't look at my desktop very often so its a waste of resources for me. The fact that its utilising my CPU as well as GPU assets constantly worries me, I put enough stress on my graphics card when I play games, I don't need extra stress when I'm doing 2D work.

For the record, dreamscene lasted 20 minutes before I took it off.

I can readily agree with the "new look" crap being a waste. But that's the "selling point" of having a new version of Windows out with that. XP wasn't too far from this either with the new "XP look" 6yrs. ago. You will note one thing however when seeing the "Classic Windows" theme still remaing into the display options. I can easily show you how two XP versions along Vista appear in the images here with the classic theme.
For XP Home on the primary, http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/7744/xphomedesktopzu0.jpg

For Vista Home Premium on the secondary ide slave, http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kornowskiclockzi1.jpg

An for XP Pro on the first sata, http://img370.imageshack.us/my.php?image=xpprodesktopzw8.jpg (Note the taskbar is now gold and at seen at the top of the desktop like the others. The backgrounds let you know which version you are running as well. :P )

That is why there is a class action at the moment regarding Home basic's lack of support for the AERO GUI interface.

You know it's a gimic. The Basic is geared for the college student or simply less computer literate persion for getting online and checking the mail. You can slap it on an old 512mb system and it will run. But you notice the big tab when looking at the $400 retail price seen on the Ultimate with $269 seen on the next down Home Premium version. These are the two with the "good stuff".
