Vista and 7 - what considerations should I be aware of if going to them?

Thinking about getting an ebay copy of Vista or 7 for a gaming rig. What considerations are there that I should be aware of?

-Will service packs be automatically available like they are with XP?

-I see conflicting assessments about Vista for gaming - it's crap, no it's not it's great once you install the latest service packs.

Windows 7 64bit is my choice.

Don't buy it off eBay. There's a lot of pirated copies of Windows floating around. Try and find somewhere legitimate to buy it. If you're in the US, Canada, or China Newegg still sells Windows 7.
