Vista and P4 3.0ghz?

Hey guys. My friend has P4 3.0ghz rig with 256mb RAM. She wants to run Vista on it so I suggested upgrading the RAM first to 2GB but I'm not sure if a single core would be able run Vista smoothly. Any thoughts on this?

Single core (Pentium 4) can run vista with 2GB ram, but it won't be decent in my opinion.
Better to get Pentium Core Duo, or Core2Duo or anything with Cores if you want all the fancy stuff and what not.
i once tried vista on my dell (sig) but that didn't work out too well
other opinions may vary

cheers mate

vista runs kinda well on my 3400 overclocked to 2.7, but it is still laggy with lots of app's running and whatnot unfortunetely, im pretty sure that the 3400 beats the pentium 3.00ghz by a bit, so his experience might not be as good as mine

so, it'll work but the P4 will lag it? like slow loading of applications and slow response times when opening menus?
