Vista and Special effects?

At work today, I have a computer setup with Vista on it. I've not relaly had time to mess with it much, but it had very nice and smooth special effects and such. Stuff like things fadeing out when you closed windows... Well, I just got the 64bit version loaded on my main system and it runs like crap. I got the drivers for the video card installed but it really hasn't helped too much.

Now, I know the 6200 isn't much of a graphics card, but I'm quite sure that the machine at work only had the intergrated Intel graphics...

Probably because they enabled and tweaked the AERO transparencies settings and such that most of the time.. doesn't come enabled on a new install of Vista.

It'll answer your question and help you with other aspects like performance and such also.

your video card shoul dbe fine. Same one i have i have the GFB Tech 6200 OC 256MB and it runs vista fine. I have a AMD Semp 3100+ socket 754 only 32 bit and it runs it OK. Not sure what would be good to do. you can tery what ^ said, but jsut reassuring that if you have a 64 bit cpu and that graphics card you should be fine for your system. Unless you have very low RAM, because the 32bit vista at least using 600mb of ram almost.

Dont know about Nvidia but I read that that you should use atleast a ATI 9600 with 128bit memoy, It could be that the Nvidia 6200 has only 64bit memory chips

I'll check it out when I get back home... I will say Vista runs MUCH better here on the Pentium duo processor. However, the damn thing locked up about every minute! I was able to use my machine at home with no problem, but it seemed rather laggy... And it's the 64bit version on my Computer listed below.

Found it... It's simply because I was running in 16bit color...however, I can't run at 1024x768 in anything but 16bit... I'm going in 800x600 now and it's fine. Ugh, I know this GPU is better than THIS...

...get this... I was just checking my list of supported Modes(resolutions and colors) 1024x768 is not listed anywhere supporting 32bit, but 1280x1024 is! I'm running at that resolution now without a problem. Effects and all...
