Vista Beta install issue

I am trying to install the vista build 5308 beta (forgot which one it is) and the first part of the install works fine, until the reboot. Then there is just a blinking white line in the upper left corner of the screen. I have formatted the drive under xp before the install and that didn't help. I have already determined that the DVD is not to blame (as in improper burn etc.). I have also stripped down my computer to the basics before the install without any success. Here is what the drive looks like after the first part of the install:

sorry, that blinking _ that is up there when it is loading the boot menu.

and for drivers, the latest?. I'm not sure what you mean.

I am currently trying vLite to see if that will help because in the install in xp I get an error about missing files.
