how many files are you downloading? because im at that page now and it shows some files that you need, but doesnt say anything about downloading the actual beta.

i heard vista is crap anyways. Only certain hardware will be compatibly with the software, need special monitor also. And only compatible software will work..."better security"

Why would you need a special montior? Surely you'd need a new graphcis card aswell then.
Any decent computer will run it. If you have 512MB of ram and at least 64MB of video memory, it should run smoothly.

No need for a special monitor. It'll work with current hardware. Also to an average user, you wont even notice a difference except for layout. But you can just download a Vista theme from anywhere to get the same feel of it. I've got Vista, do I use it? not really, tried it out a bit, and just stuck with XP for now. There's still a lot of incapatabilities with other programs. If you want to see what will work and what won't you can just google it or find a Vista forum somewhere. Many other software developers are now working on fixes for Vista, but I don't have that much free time.

That doesnt make any since, they wouldnt require you to upgrade to all nwe hardware, since they want businesses to upgrade to visa. If they do need new monitors and new hardware, no one would want to buy vista.

I dunno about that, there are a heck of alot of people with money too waste. I mean, just look at the people who cant wait to fork over the $350+ AUD it's gonna cost for Vista. Not to mention the hardware that will be needed to run it.

I'll stick with the trusty old Penguin for now.

There were reviews in PC Magazine about how companies arent going to want to upgrade toa new OS if they need to buy new hardware. The fact is alot of companies still use windows 98.

I have it installed on my machine, on my second hard drive. And it runs great but I would not run it with less than 1GB of memory. Also keep in mind, Vista will take about 8GB of hdd space. (just a heads up).
