Vista - Changing Default Folder Views

No matter what folder, I *always* want the view to be on 'details' and the columns to be "Name", "Size", an "Date Modified". However, Vista keeps switching them depending on what the files are (like.. pictures did the thumbnail thing, etc).

Any way to change it to always be the same thing?

Go to an empty space under in a folder, under Windows Explorer (like your pictures, for example) right click on that empty space, go to View, select "Details" and that should view what you want it to view.

Yes, but my point is I need to do this on every single folder. And if the contents of the folder change (for example, if a folder's contents is emptied then replaced with pictures), it will automatically change itself back to whatever it wants.

That's odd.

I just reinstalled Vista 2 days ago, and when I change the folder properties, they stay the way I want them,
and I constantly copy, cut, paste etc different files.

I have a 'downloads' folder I keep on my desktop.. everything I download gets put into there (go figure). It is often deleted of it's old contents, only to have new stuff put in there. It's view gets changed time and time again.

It's annoying

Hmm. I just use the Downloads folder that's under my Username. The default ones that Windows creates.

Have you tried using the default Downloads folder? (Start/Documents/Downloads)

You need to configure your settings in "folder options" If you can't see the tab for that in explorer look in control panel.
