Vista Clean Install

no that disk is a Upgrade so i think it needs an existing copy of windows to upgrade

mate i wouldnt buy the upgrade...get the full vista home premium.

I've heard that if you do a clean install of XP, then install that you've got a clean install of Vista or something?

yeah it's an upgrade Disk, why not buy a full version of Vista.
Probably if you attempt upgrading to Vista over Xp you will probably run into a lot a problems later.
if am getting you right !!!

Its bad enough that with Vista users are expected invalidate their previous Windows XP key (Well Microsoft does that for you - how nice!) when installing Vista

That's put me right off!

I can't get the full version, it's like £250 or something... I want the 32bit to start with, but then the 64bit a bit lation on maybe, that's what the upgrade edition lets you do.

Whats the difference whith these, which one should I get?

It looks like the top one is a system builders version and the other is retail. With the first one you can only put it on one pc as it tied to the hardware , whereas retail will allow you to move from one pc to another.

Yeah the top one, OEM, it doesn't come with a book and a fancy box. But the retail comes with both 32 and 64bit disks. But at twice the cost.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind both 32 and 64, but I think for now I'll get the 32bit OEM...

I may see if I can send MS some money for the 64bit DVD...

Thats not true. You are confusing a OEM version that comes on a system like Dell or Gateway. Those are tied to the motherboard.

Buying a OEM version of windows and installing it does not tie it to anything. As long as you only use 1 copy of it, you can rebuild your system over and over and still use it. You will just have to re register every time you do it.

Why not just get an unlegit version of vista ? You can get vista ultimate for free Lol your not spposed to do that but really I think they got enough money from all the other people who bought it.
