Vista failing to connect to internet

My machine running vista is attempting to connect to the internet via wireless card and router. It connects to the network successfully, but then fails to reach the internet. This machine, running XP has no such problem with the router.

Vista is sometimes successful, but it intermittently loses the connection and now it is failing to connect to the internet at all.

I have tried everything I can think of in terms of manipulating settings, but still no luck.

Any well though-out suggestions?

I have a very similar problem, but on XP. The modem connects as a network connection, but then cannot connect to the internet at all.
I end up repairing the IP address, which I think changes it, then all seems to be fine.
This only seems to have happened since I re-formatted XP.

I just ran into this issue again tonight. An Acer laptop with Vista Premium. It would log on to the router, but fail to pull an IP. Another Acer sitting right beside it logged on just fine, also with Vista Premium. As it was getting very late and I'd had a long day I didn't have time to diagnose it. When I go back I'll find the answer. I suspect that removing and installing an updated driver, then flushing the resolver cache, releasing and renewing the IP afterwords would more than likely solve it. Of course, the unit also had that POS Norton on it. I wouldn't be surprised if that piece of garbage was somehow interfering.
