So ok , ive been reading about vista lately and they say its not good to use the admin account. ok, i created "Patrick" when setting up vista and he is "Administrators:debugger users".
Is patrick the main admin like in XP ? so if i now create "patrickv" and put him as admin, is it the same thing as "Patrick" ?

so i did it and i though Patrick would go hidden like admin in Xp but no, it stays on the log on screen.
So basically there's no such admin as XP, you know the one we use only when problem arise ?

so in which direction do i go ? continue with patrick or use Patrickv and put him a standard user ?

will this make Patrick a hidden admin ?

You have to decide there which name you want for the admin account. It's still easy enough to create a new admin account and delete the existing one. One blog on disabling the default admin during the beta time for Vista and setting up the standard user accounts with both those and adminstrarors seeing limitations can be reviewed at http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsvistasecurity/archive/2006/08/27/windowsvistasecurity_.aspx

Besides trying to see the real adminstrator in Vista visible you may want a look at the advice given at http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window-on-windows/?p=460 about providing administrative privileges to the account with the name you decide on.

ok thanks pceye, seems that i can create any users i want but they wont be the power admin am after, found it, i think

When installing Vista I first disablied the User Account Control and created the administror with a very familiar user name. hhmmm... You can also rename that at any time in the Control Panel>user accounts as seen in the screenshot here.

The default shoud be hidden away to prevent system hijacking by malwares and other things. You give the primary account administrative permissions to prevent remote access to the main system files along personal data. There are several articles on this especially for networking.

patricky was wondering about creating two accounts in order to see a name change there. The option to change the name on the existing user account with administrative priviledges is easy enough as seen there in the screen shot as well as changing the account type.
