Vista installation problems

I have recently put together a new computer that i cant get vista installed(basic) i normally get a little bit past where you put in the pin number and it freezes. i can sometimes get to about 50% into the expanding files part of the installation. but of course, it still freezes, completely. everything si vista compatable.
what could be wrong?


i have a 250gb hard drive, 2gbs ram(i can have three if i need it), foxconn p9657ab motherboard, geforce 8600gt graphics card, LG dvd cd drive, intel core 2 quad processor, creative sound card.

How is your RAM set up? If you can, try running the install on the smallest amount of RAM that you have. I've heard that works.

how do you do that though, this is my first computer ever built fkrom scratch so i dont really know what im doing, sometimes.

Just use one stick of RAM and after you get Vista installed, you can put the rest back in.
