Vista Kicks out my DVD Drives randomly

I have a machine with 2 dvd writers and 3 hd's. When I boot I usually lose one of my drives. They show up on the control panel with a "Down arrow" over them. When I click to have them enabled vista says it can't but if I delete the drive and let Vista find it the drive works fine.

Here is my config:

IDE 0
M Sony DVD RW
S Open
IDE 1
M Lite On DVD
s WD 200 gig drive

NVRAID 2 * 160 gig drives

Gigabyte G8n Pro SLI Board

Any thoughts?

you said when you let vista get the driver it works fine?
stick with the driver vista finds if it continues working the old driver may not be compatable with vista

What I do is delete the device in the manager and let Vista reload it and all is fine.

After a reboot, the driver is disabled again for no apparent reason.

I am not using any special drivers.

Try swapping the IDE cabes over and if that dosent work change the IDE controllers. Have any of the power cables come loose. If none of these boot in to safemode and see if it is there
