Vista media Center and HD content

I have never used Windows Vista before, but I am contemplating purchasing an inexpensive desktop computer to be used as a DVR. I have read that Windows Vista Media Center is well-suited for such use including the viewing and recording of HD content with a tuner card. So I want to know how well it records high-definition content and what the playback is like. My plan is to have the output of my video card connect to my 40 inch LCD TV through HDMI. Can Vista Media Center play back my HD content in full screen 1920 x 1080 resolution?
 
I never try it but I think its related to gc. If your gc support full HD, you might can play HD-content.
