Vista Memory question

I have some friends saying that Vista will only recognize 3gigs or memory. I told him that I was going to get like 4gigs of the Corsair XMS2 RAM and he told me not to and only get 3 cause Vista wont use all 4gigs. Is that true?

As kof said, 32-Bit versions can only recognize 3GB or so, but the 64-Bit versions can recognize up to 128GB, depending on which version of Vista you get.

Right now not to many applications use/utilize 4GB of memory, and unless you plan on running numerous applications which use a lot of RAM, 2 gigs is plenty.

2GB is more then enough for the average user, and is fine for gamers. I use Vista and have a bunch of apps running while gaming, and my RAM still doesnt get above 90% usage in games. In fact sometimes it's around 80% usage.
