Vista Memory

Just be aware that 32bit OS can only recognize up to 3.12GB or RAM.
The rest are either not used or used by something else. I am unclear as to the detail but I am pretty sure that the OS can only recognize that much.

it requires a gig of RAM. i'm running vista on a gig of RAM on my laptop and no hiccups or slowdowns. but when i start to use Macromedia Flash, then the slowdown begins.

I wouldn't. I was using two (in my desktop), got two more, and noticed zero difference. I think it will only help if you actually use more than 2GB's, which hardly anyone does.

512MB on Vista Home Basic, 1GB of all others :)

lol. well my microsoft is wrong. my sister bought a acer aspire laptop that came with 512mb of RAM and Vista Home Basic. it was lagging like hell. i told her to buy more RAM so she bought a gig of ram so now it has 1.5gb's and it's running sweet.

512MB is the minimum, of course it would run better with more RAM. :)

i have ultimate with 2 gig ram. runs perfectly. at times it will use up 1 gig. never any more. unless im gaming. 2 gig is definately fine for what i do.

I had 2GB in my laptop to start out with, and it was acceptable. But I wanted to "up" my performance in the few games that I played so I sprung for another 1GB knowing that my 32bit OS only recognizes 3.12GB, and in every game aside from WoW (which still bugs me) I notice a good speed increase, I have about 1.5-2GB of RAM for the game, depending on how many processes I have running in the background. Then when I'm not playing games, its generally faster all around. So I'd go for it, RAM is cheap now anyways :)

Here on our Acer Aspire 2920 with 2 gb of ram, Vista Home is running sweet although it takes 1gb right from start up.

I have a sony vaio with XP, and I expanded to 1 GB (wish I could expand more), and I noticed a huge jump in speed. Don't plan to upgrade to vista on this notebook.
