I know win9x can, what about ME, win2k, XP?
Could vista be installed on an overclocked i486(~166Mhz) with 256MB EDO SIMM RAM (I think that is the max), 20GB harddrive (could be lager if you had it), CD/DVD-ROM drive? I'm talking about a rocking old system!

My neighbour bought a Brand new Compaq Celeron W/512mb/Vista Home Basic...EVERYTHING is slow on it...I doubled the ram...somewhat better. Thank God he only uses it for email. I would not recommend Vista for any machine with less than 1gb RAM and a decent cpu.
Indeed, Vista was fine on my old PC also (Sempron 64 3100+ 1.8GHz with 1GB RAM and GeForce 6200LE).
So I'm gonna tell Gramps that he needs even more memory and a gamer level video card so he can check email and play solitaire?suprisingly Vista ran fine on my old machine,Sempron 2ghz,1.25gb of ram 9600 pro.
even aero worked![]()
