Vista or Windows 7?

I am in the process of upgrading my computer and ordered my new hard drive today. I am wondering if I should stick with my Vista Ultimate 64 bit or switch to Windows 7? Here is the specs of what my computer will end up being:

Asus M2A-VM mobo
4 X 1gb DDR2 800 memory
AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition 2.5GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
500 gig SATA HDD
LITE ON DVD-RW
Asus DVD-ROM
Radeon X1650Pro 512 mb PCI-E X 16 (am replacing this but don't know what with yet)

Your opinions are appreciated.

If you are going to buy a new os licence then I would get Windows 7 but if you are going to just copy the drive to the new drive stay with vista.

Definetely 7, I didn't have too many problems with 64bit vista Ultimate, but I have Win7 64bit now and it's amazing. Defininetely go 7, thats if your budget allows you too.

I've been running Vista x64 on my pc for 2 years and have had very little compatibility issues.

This small sacrifice has certainly been outweighed by the gains in the performance of the OS.
It runs excellent on my pc and I would never dream of installing XP again...

I've also had Windows 7 x64 on this same pc and it does not perform as well.
Slight lags between mouse clicks really bother me. Also, click on Firefox and the window comes up for a second then disappears, then reappears again. Odd.
My HTPC in my living room does the same thing, but I originally blamed that on older hardware.

So, I vote Vista. :)

If you already have Vista Ultimate, I don't really see a reason to buy another OS...there's not THAT big of a difference and you can spend the money on hardware instead. XP would be another story.

Seems you've already got Win7 though, so it's a moot point :/
