vista problems

my windows update won't update itself, so it can update the rest of my p.c., and also at the same time preventing my windows defender from doing the same, does anyone have any advice for me? it would be much appreciated

If you are connected to the internet go to the windows update website and download the updated manually.

which version of vista are you running?

i agree with thebaxters comment..upgrading to windows 7 is the best thing to do. and since u r running vista, you can upgrade without doing a clean install

Vista does have most of 7's features....there's no point in that if he can fix it.
