Vista question

Hey I have a quick question about Vista. Some programs I've installed on my computer like xfire or msn messenger always ask me whether or not I want to continue to the program or cancel when I try to open them. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to stop this? Thanks a lot!!!

That's the new "User Account Control" feature now seen in Vista prompting you on everything. By entering the security section in the Control Panel you can uncheck the box there and click apply to see that stuff gone. It acts mostly like a second firewall along with the one included in Windows since XP. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...nt-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/ is the quick and easy method without typing commands at the Run prompt or editing a registry value.

...

Is this feature necessary or would it be ok to delete? I'm getting kind of sick of clicking continue every ten seconds. So is this an important feature or can I live without it?

Simply follow the instruction there and uncheck the box to disable it. It's one of Microsoft's added features to sell Vista with more security added. But I've been Vista with it disabled for almost 3 months now. I would suggest getting something like Spyware Terminator that includes a milder type of firewall that doesn't prompt on everything however for some added protection.

That will remember your decision any time it prompts and you click allow or deny. It's far less intrusive and of course far less "ANNOYING"! :P You can grab that free at http://www.spywareterminator.com/dnl/landing.aspx
