Vista Ram Question

I know a lot of people have always been asking if upgrading from 1gb to 2gb of ram is a good thing. I think this question is different, as it is about Vista. I have a Compaq v6210us laptop that has 2 slots of 512mb ram. I can upgrade to 2gb with 2 1gb chips. They are about 40 dollars each, and my laptop can not handle a lot of things open at once. For example, just with firefox, photoshop, and wmp open, it can freeze my computer :(

So, with 2gb of ram under 100 dollars, will it upgrade my multitasking performance?

edit: Also, I am thinking of Kingston. It is not the cheapest, but it is usually thought of as a good kind of ram, plus the name sounds cool :). Is kingston ok?

Depends on how long you want to use that laptop. If you plan on getting a new one in the near future, I would just sell yours and buy a new one that comes with 2gigs of RAM standard.

Then again, 80 dollars is not a lot of money either. So, it just depends on how long you think you'll be using the laptop. Computers never hold any resell value, so selling now would be best if that is what you are going to do (unless its a mac, they actually hold their value).

My laptop is fairly new, so I do not planning getting one soon. I use my laptop for basically anything I want to do, whether its playing GTASA (does not even work well with low anti-aliasing) to watching dvd's, to editing photos. Again, I do usually have a lot of things open at once.
