vista screen res. problems

I have a hp dv9005us. I had xp and i was going great! everything was perfect! then i upgraded to vista and it was again going great. then i started seeing this problem. After some standbys or hibernation, the screen resulation would go from 1440 x 900 to 1024 x 768. this is bugging me because it changes my icons. is there a way to fix/go arround this problem. (no i do not want to leave it at 1024 x 768. on a 17 inch screen it is too big font.)

did you go desktop>properties>settings and change it from there?

Also use the graphics drivers control panel thing to try.

Yeah. I change it back but i hate doing that. Also i think i forgot to mention i uninstalled the driver and got a new one from online. no difference.
