Hope someone can help me.

I have a HP pavilion dv2000 laptop with vista, i was trying to get windows 7 on, but needed SP1 for the upgrade.

As i was installing SP1 the computer either reset or produced an error and now when i start the computer up, it gets past the wondows symbol and begins to 'configure updates'. It gets to 99%, then it says it is shutting down and just infinitly repeats this process.

I have tried to do a system restore, but there is no file to restore back to. I need some options to get this laptop back up and running.

Any Ideas?

You can try system repair. But that's all i can help you here. Something must have messed up in the update process. That's what's causing it to restart without stopping.

If you tried to update to windows 7 you can do a clean isntall with an upgrade disc. all you need to do is not enter the cd key during installation, do it after you have installed windows.

note that if you select a higher version (eg, you paid for pro, but selected ultimate) they key will not work and you will have to reinstall and select the correct version.
