Vista to XP to Vista

I'm currently ordering a Dell and I want to install XP on it but I also want to be able to revert back to Vista if I ever wanted to. Does Vista or Dell have recovery partitions like other machines do and can I revert back to Vista with the recovery software?

why not just partition your hard drive and install Xp alongside Vista?

That is a possibility although not practical since it'll take up HDD space. Could I create a third partition for music and documents?

yes you can

i dont think you can do what you want to do with a system recovery disk to be honest because that was just made to recovery vista if something goes wrong.

i know its not always practical but what i would do is create 3 partitions...install vista on one of them,xp on the second and keep all your files like music etc on the third drive so you can share them on whichever os you decide to boot in.
