A few questions.... (sorry im not that pc savy)

Ok so I may pick up vista tommorow...

Im curious as to why the upgrade software package is cheaper? And since im runnin windows XP MC Ed... will i lose any of the video i have saved if I choose to upgrade to Vista.
What is the difference between the FULL Vista home premium and the Upgrade Home Premium ?

Also... If i buy the upgrade software... will I be able to do a full system restore if i ever choose so if I buy the upgrade software?

I know vista comes in 32 and 64 bit, so i would obviously get the 64 bit right ? (please check my system specs) i dont do alot of gaming on my pc.. just use it for internet, msn... regular stuff....
and wuts the diff between OEM and Retail ?

Any info would be great....

Not sure what the difference between upgrade and the full. The full may have other features or something, I don't know.

I don't think I'm understanding the full system restore thing.

And final questions- you can run the 64-bit version of Vista, Hence the Athlon 64 ;)
And OEM means just the DVD, no booklets, no manuals, no anything except the DVD.

I believe the upgrade version only allows to upgrade from previous windows operating systems. After that you can not do a full install. That is why it is cheaper. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that is how it works.

well thats pointless if you cant do a full system install if you ever decide to do so with the upgrade software...

Yes, as mentioned the upgrade is for people whom already have an OS installed on their system and thus only really need to upgrade. The full version is for those who do not have a previous version of windows installed and thus need to do a fresh install.

This means that if you ever have to reinstall Vista with an upgrade you will need to first install your previous set of windows (in my case also Windows MCE 2005), and then upgrade to Vista. That is what I read elsewhere, so if that is not the case then I was mislead.

Well that sux for i guess because my windows xp MCE is on the harddrive and if i want o a fresh reinstall i have to press f1 during bootup and follow the setup process... so if install vista with the upgrade software im Fu*ked if i ever want to a fresh install...

If you hae the original ME disks, then you can install ME no problem after installing Vista. However, I would recommened that you go out and get XP Home anyway as that will run much better on a system that originally ran ME. Furthermore, if you still want to get Vista, check your current specs, we checked the system monitor at work and at IDLE Vista Home Basic uses 258MB of RAM.
