If I download WinVista beta now when the trial ends and I buy Vista can I just put the license and download the updates, or do I have to uninstall Vista Beta and install Vista release? I don't want to keep having to reinstall all of my software...

he difference between Vista Beta 2 and the final version of Vista will be significant, and you would need to buy the retail version.
 
What I mean is if I install the beta, will I then be able to install the (licensed) updates over the beta or the whole retail version over the beta without losing my settings/software?
I find it very boring resetting all of my setting every time I install a new OS

Well you may be able to use the files and settings transfer wizard, which will backup your files and settings, and then restore them when you purchase the retail version of Vista. But im not positive if it will work, seeing how they will have made major changes to the OS.
