I use XP about 1% of the time. Literally. I NEVER use xp ne more.
 
Also make sure that ur computer has at least 2 gig ram memory.If its less then 2 gig ram memory..ur computer will tend to lag
 
I have had none of the issues that the majority of people have been complaining about, other than a game or two won't run. I think vista is a worthy upgrade and helps usher in a newer age of computing...

Seriously though, it is newer, it is the way to go..

Just friggin buy it. :-)
 
thanks guy, I took your advice on the mobo, as you seem to know a lot about computers. Any other things I should change?
 
in fact, it almost looks like we will have basically the same build, other than the stuff you overclocked. do you have anything on your rig that you would change?

*EDIT* would you suggest getting a new heatsink fan for my PSU?
 
Mine ran a little warm so i bought the Zalman 9500 led and i get realy good temps. I love my motherboard but i think its out of your budget ($185) but that gigabyte is realy good. But as of now im happy with everything i bought and found nothing i would change :)

If your a gamer you might would want to save some more and get something like a 8800gts 320mb but if your on a tight budget i would think that the 8600 would do you fine.
 
I'm planning on holding off on the overclocking until I really need it, in which case I'd buy a new PSU, Heatsink, Fans, etc.
 
Upgrading the corsair psu? That one will last for some time to come, it will power a 8800Ultra so that one will last you for the future
 
I have built a couple and have repaired quite a few in the past. If its your first its probably going to be alot easier than you think. Nothing to worry about :)
 
Yeah, I'm all confused about how to see if everything's compatable, and that im not over spending or getting faulty stuff. Do you have any pointers or know any good tutorials on actually putting the parts together? I know the basics, because a friend of mine and I repaired a computer and put some new parts into it, but this'll be the first from scratch.
