Check your video card drivers thats probably something to do with your video card not vista becuase i have a lot more then that on mine...

Not actually a driver problem, just a setup glitch(for lack of a better term).
Turns out that since I've got a TV hooked up to the Vid card, the largest resolution that Vista will let me use is 1024x768. Disabled the TV and everything works fine.
