Visual Studio Runs slow on E5200?

Just curious.

It is at stock clock with 4GB of DDR2 at I believe 800Mhz
(if it matters)
Should I go into task manager and set a higher priority?
or set an affinity to a core 1 or core 2?

Well, I have no idea how CPU intensive Visual Studio is but a 2.5ghz dual core is getting older now. Slow clock speed, plus only 2 cores. But socket 775 is a dead end at this point, so your best bet is overclocking your current CPU if you have Bios options for doing that. 266 FSB will put you at 3.3ghz, should run fine on stock volts and cooler, prehaps just the slightest tiny bump in volts maybe.....but remember to change the ram multiplier back as it will overclock the ram with it.

Your system should be enough to run it no problems. The computers we use visual studio on in college only have 2GB 667 MHz memory and E2200's. Make sure you don't have any other programs open using up your resources

I wish I could over clock it, its my brothers college pc...

Plus I haven't learned to OC yet, and don't have any parts to OC

Anyways Its a Tell with a slim case, and not the best airflow either. All it has is a Fan on the CPU and an Exhaust fan in the rear.
