Hey all,

i found a quite nice vista looking distro of linux...

start.jpg

Vixta.org is a Fedora-based Linux distribution designed to be user-friendly and eye-catching, similar in look and feel to Windows Vista. Trying to bring linux to the "masses", not just sysadmins..

i dont know how long its been out but i thought i would post it up for those of you who had not heard of it:)

im going to try it on Vmware:)

Thats wrong in so many ways :P

lol, no seriously, i agree with you there, they no slowly linux is dying (uh..heartbeat stop....no response:D) so here they go make a vista-look a like, microsoft should sue them.
So they want to bring linux to the masses, yeah right good luck.
I have tried getting ppl using linux and after a week or two, they're back to windows.
but anyway i will have to try it too , it's fun trying out distro's everynow and then

Linux will not die. And it shouldn't either. Eat your words, matey, or face the plank. :P

Those who use Windows are either gamers (good excuse), or confused (bad). They should be beaten with the blunt end of a large club then stuck in a hole on the moon. The only reason they find linux "different" or hard to understand/use is because they're computer illiterate nincompoops, who dare not to expand their horizons because that would actually require the use of their brain to objectively examine the world around them, and make decisions based on merit, instead of popularity. Goes for the Mac too you frikken noobs :D

i personally like ubuntu but i havent really used it. my friend has ubuntu on his pc though.

**Pushes Patrick off the plank into a pool full of sharks and jellyfish and eels and a bunch of other nasties**

That plank.

*patrick gets ate by a shark, but not after being assaulted by a very large jellyfish, when which he starts screaming like a little girl*

Use your super Windows knowledge in there, V! Ahahaha..... for you will never use it again, I fear!

Sorry for bringing about an old thread, but does anyone know the system requirements?

Would it run on:

Intel Pentium 400MHz (OC'd to 533MHz)
16MB PC100/66 RAM (no, 16mb literally. i got tons of sticks but asus is picky)
ATI Rage Fury Pro 128 32MB AGP THEATER
DVD 16x
CD 52x

^ Would it work? Going to be used an an security/multimedia desktop. No gaming.

it might post. lol. im not sure if the graphics card can handle it. the processor would work, it would lag, but work...

Yup....both my friend and I tried out Linux...it's pretty cool and all....but..well...Windows is way 10x more productive (at least for me) and Linux doesn't really do much that Windows can't do (at least nothing I'm interested in)

Rule of thumb in choosing Vista
1. Use a PC with high hardware specification like DirectX10 graphic card and 2 Gb RAM
2. Availability of Vista Service Pack 1

If those conditions are not met, use XP for the time being.

I will say bootable : YES , usable : NO, not enough ram dude, but like lovely said, probably it will have lots of lag

yup thats the word, productive, i mean one reasons my friends went back to windows was because (one of em tried ubuntu) they couldn't understand which apps to use, one was looking for Nero so i gave him Nero Linux but he couldn't use it,not even k3b even if i showed them, and the main reason as because ubuntu came empty handed, no apps installed, but they sure liked Sabayon and PcLinux as hell...:P
