Am I right that when I play an Interlaced DVD I got Retail that my VLC Media Player is De Interlacing the picture?

I am using a LCD monitor that is connected HDMi

VLC player has deinterlacing disabled as default. You can enable it for the current video from the Video menu or right-clicking. To permanently make it the default you have to go to Preferences.

If VLC has De Interlace turned off by default then when it plays my DVDs it plays them as Interlaced?

My monitor is an LCD I thought they will only display De Interlaced Videos?
