Which would you choose for an overall better system and as a great gaming processor?

1) AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4800+ with HyperTransport and Dual Core Technology

2) AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57 with HyperTransport Technology

The X2 would be my choice,

the FX-57 benifits only shine through if your overclocking it, and the majority of the owners on fx series dont even bother to OC them

For gaming the FX would be the better choice. Don't waste your money on an FX though.

i think AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57 is better for gaming , and AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4800+ for multi tasking.

go with a 4800 it is amazingly good at multi tasking and i no the fx series is good i would think the when smp support comes on games the 4800 will truely shine

I would go with the X2. and as apj said, that FX series would really only be worth it if you plan to overclock it alot.
