hey, fellas, i just got 2x 1gb sticks of ram for christmas, and i would like run a test on them, but i dont know a good program. any suggestions???

also, is DDR2-5300 backward compatible to a computer running 4200, or 2100? cause i would like to give the old ram to my friend who is running 4200.
 
PC2 5300 200-pin modules should work in a system using PC2 4200 200-pin modules. The PC2 5300 modules will just likely run at PC2 4200 speeds.

Try out a more modern video game to test your memory out or run an AVG 7.5 virus scan.
 
If you want an integrity check then download Memtest86+, otherwise looks at Orthos for stress-testing. Oh and 2048Megabytes, you do know Ubuntu isn't shareware, it's open-source?
