hi all,
Recently my comp was infected by this worm W32.Looked.BK. This virus is network-aware worm that infects executable files in local drives and network shares. Because i got store a lot of .exe file in my local HD, so most of them were infected. I formatted my comp. Then i installed NA2007 on my fresh Windows Vista. NA2007 did detect and resolve those infected .exe files in my HD.

However, in order to prevent future attack of this kind of virus to the .exe files that stored in my comp, i would like to know the following methods is practicable or not???
1. what if i zip the .exe file???
2. what if i change the .exe file extension to the others,i believe those kind of virus only detect and infect .exe file right???

Any pro pls kindly give your comment or better suggestion. Thank you very much

First, changing the file extension won't help you in most cases, because the virus will usually only execute when you launch the .exe. But for safety, I recommend getting AVG free which, once installed, will allow you to scan file whenever you want (right click the file, and scan ;)). Only reason I'm going with AVG is because i hate Norton (they can't detect compressed malware).

hi refresher, thanks for your reply :)
i also quite don't like NA because it totally slows down my system :Q ,maybe i will try AVG later, thx for your advise
btw, at here my major concern is whether the virus can infect the .exe file in zip condition or in changed extension condition, this is because i want to make sure if my system is infected by this kind of virus again,i still can copy the .exe file (zip or ext changed) which stored in my comp to other clean system and execute it there without infect that clean system, so could you confirm those for me? thx in advance :P

AVG is a very reliable Anti-Virus software and it dont really occupy man disk space, unlike NA occupy alot of disk space

Well, IMO you'd rather apply a good antivirus program rather than doing something uncertain to your .exe files. Changing extension or compressing files might generate another problem in the future, which you'd never know.

Thus my suggestion is install a good antivirus and protect your computer from any infectious agents ;)

I recently apply avast and it seems good, much much better than NAV.
