Walkthroughs

I am curious if people use walkthrough when playing through a game the first time. I personally never do. I think it defeat the chellenge of the game using a walkthrough. I always beat the game at least once on my own before looking at anything. Once I figured out how to beat the game on my own then the 3rd or 4th time I play through the game I use a walkthrough to see all the things I might of missed from beating it with no help.

I dont understand people that just follow a walkthrugh the first time playing a game. What the fun in following directions. I want the cheallenge and fun of figuring it out on my own.

I also never been a fan of cheats. I think they just make the game less fun.

Who need fun when its efficient? :P

Nah I generally dont bother with walkthroughs ... of course ive been more of a fan of first-person-shooters rather than first-person-problem-solvers :D

I use them sometimes when I try to get the perfect file. :D (mostly just for rpgs though, but I don't play too many of those anyways, and I don't like to replay them a couple of times :o )

I wont touch a walkthrough/cheat guide unless I've been stuck at one point for days on end. In RPGs it's just pointless, half the fun is figured out the convoluted puzzles they put in your way.

I agree completly. one of the best games I ever played and took me awile to figure out all the puzzles was Alundra. It took awile but I finally manage to solve the whole game on my own. That was one of most fun I ever had playing a game. for those who dont know alundra is a playstation game that alot like zelda but the puzzles are MUCH harder then zelda. I only talking about alundra 1 , alundra 2 sucked.

I might use walkthroughs on my second run through a game, but if I absolutely love a game, there's really no need to. I'll sit and stare at the game for hours until I do what I want to do.

Well, I'm not against walkthrough or cheating in game..
For the games that i really like such as RPG games, I never use cheat but I do use walkthrough just to get me out of frustration sometimes (solving crazy puzzles or getting me out of a freaky long and winding dungeon..^_^)
but sometimes the tempation of cheat is like a fruit of knowledge that i cannot resist...Imagine you have millions of credits in Granturismo..after busting my ass all night just to get a few thousand credits..not even worth a new car..
Lotsa cash sure do adds up the fun..you can buy any cars and upgrade anything..
really different from my real life..he he he he

i usually do it with rpgs only since you need a lot of time to kill and i dont want to play it again just to get anything i missed. most walkthrough warns you of spoilers anyways.

Just out of curiosity, how long did take for you to acquire the Goron Sword? :D

Personally, I love problem solving games like The Legend of Zelda and Metroid. Street Fighter isn't so bad ;)
