Want a bigger HD...

My current HD only has about 12GB of storage in my Compaq Presario 5003US desktop. I would like to install a new internal HD, but don't want to spend alot of money. Any suggestions?

i really dont know if you can buy a new hard drive that will work with that computer. its possible, but something tells me that with a 12gb hard drive you might just want to build a whole new computer.

If it's IDE then you shouldn't have an issue adding another IDE drive, although most likely it would have to be under 120/160GB.

Thats a good one:D. I really think that model came with a IDE 60gb. harddrive. He probable means he only has 12 left. But true a old Pentium III board might have a bios limit on the size of harddrive that it can read. Think it was built around 2000/2001 so it might have a 128gb barrier.

I think the HD was swapped out because I look at my system's monitor and it only shows a 12GB HD. Maybe a external HD would be a better choice.

You can get a 80GB HDD for $30, even less on eBay, so if all you need is some cheap storage, id recommend that.
