Want to get a new computer - Need help

I don't have a lot of money to spend on a computer. My current computer is a piece of shit. 756 mb ram, 2.6 ghz pentium 4, and a fx5200 128mb (the 35 dollar card) so almost anything will be an upgrade.

I still don't know if it would be worth it to just buy some more RAM and a new graphics card or to just buy a whole new machine. I'm mainly going to be playing games like Counter-Strike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source. So I don't need a godlike computer.

Also, where is the best place to buy computer/computer components for cheap. What do you think I should do, techies?

Pentium 4 is good so keep it.

Let me see

New rig:

Pentium 4 < you have one so check>
1GB Ram 6400CL5 800mhz
8600GT 512mb or a 7900GTX 512mb

get at least 1gb of ram but if i were you get 2gb if you ever want to run the new windows vista but if i were you when i get vista i would get a new computer

No, I really don't plan on getting vista at the moment. It's still buggy-ish, so I hear.

What's your budget? And then I will help you out...

Well, my birthday is coming up in about a month and I plan on getting my license and possibly a motorcycle/car, but I never ask for anything ever, so I'm thinking I might be able to squeeze ~150-200 USD out of my family for some minor upgrades. I could probably get a lot more, but from the current suggestions I'm recieving I'll probably just pick up some more ram and a new GFX card. I don't know if 150-200 is enough for a decent GFX card and either a 1gig stick of ram, or a 512 stick. I'm not too good with anything on computers :S
