Hi guys im new this this forum hopefully someone can help me out. i know it can be done becausei did it to my friends computer.... but i cant remember how to do it now....

What happened is I lost my restore disk, and i want to reformat my computer. From what i remember on my friends computer is that you are allowed to make ONE copy of the restore disk, when you lose your copy (but only one copy can be made) with this you can reformat your xp and reinstall windows.... it was made from the command prompt i think... It was a two step process i didnt need to download anything and it was made in less than 15 min.

My computer is from 2002 and i have reformatted it several times, and i dont want to use the system restore function.

any suggestions?

I think you are talking about BOOT disks.. I dont think you can MAKE your own restore disk.. You might have to call the company you purchased it from and ask for another one, or buy a version of windows.

Ok so honestly i dont know what disk, i made...
it was the purple/pink colored disk that came with my dell, it believe it said recovery or restore disk. Once i completely reformatted my computer by hitting f8 or f12 when i restarted and followed a few steps, the disk allowed windows to be reinstalled into my computer.

This is the same exact disk i made when i worked on my friends computer, the problem is i know it can be done because I did it already, it can be done. She didnt have any cd's that originally came with it, so it allowed me to burn only one cd.

this is the cd i recreated
