want to upgrade my computer

first of all, is there a place i can go on my comp to give you guys the specs of it? all i know is i have 1 gb of ram, pentium D (each 2.66 Ghz), and i have xp. i want to make it faster, for cheap. so im thinking ram would be first priority? want to spend $50 at most, and i only have 2 slots for the ram. and what is a good reliable, cheap brand? also i dont know anything about the timing that i need, or what ddr is. basically lmk what is better to look for in those. thanks!
 
before upgrading your computer. first you should know your computer specifications. one way is running a software to identify the exact details of it's parts. try using PC WIZARD
a utility designed especially for detection of hardware. then post the detail here so we can help.
