I am looking for a way to find out whats really inside my ASUS G73J, without opening it up.
I was told the 500GB HD was a 7200 rpm, but some say it's just 5400 rpm.
Thank's for any help.

Look in device manager under disk drives for the model number of the HDD and post it.

It's not a real deal killer, the system is plenty quick and is working very well. But it's not marked on the box, or stated anywhere on ASUS's site or in Best buys description near this laptop. I asked the BB employee about the hard drive, and he told me it was a 500GB 7200 rpm. I asked him if he was 100% sure and he said yes.
I like the laptop but I feel Best Buy gave me the wrong information, don't know if it was just a mistake or if he just did not want to say it was a 5400 HD. Anyway I am sure they meaning BB don't want this laptop returned, so I plan on having a little talk with the BB customer desk. Think they need to knock some off the sale price.;)

The thing is unless otherwise specified, all hard drives in laptops are 5400 rpm to reduce heat issues.

Was this a customized laptop or a higher end machine? As the higher end laptops most likely come with a 7200rpm drive.

The ASUS G73JH is a high end laptop it's a i7. The H.P.Pavilion i3 dv6, is just general work Laptop, it's no game Mach.
