Wanting to Setup a server...

I currently have a pc that i want to turn into a server and maybe host a website off of it idk. Iv tried using apache, but it gives me errors, soooo is there any other programs i can use to create a web server that are some what simple to use? Thx for your help

A very easy version of Apache that comes pre-configured with PHP and MySQL is called Xampp Just unzip and run. (After the readme , of course.)

Why not use it as fileserver, Game hosting, DHCP ect. While your ther?

Can this be done with apache or with red onions program???? It'd be cool to run a fileserver

If you want to just serve files over your LAN, Windows File sharing will do OK, or Samba if using Linux.

I have the server created, but is there anyway to turn it off without doing it physically??? Iv tried going through remote desktop and attempting to turn it off through the start menu, but theres no option there, Iv also tried a shutdown bat file, but noo go....So is it even possible to turn it off without having to shut her down manually?
