hey guys, my newly bought antec smartpower 2.0 power supply has a very high 12V reading and is triggering a warning from the monitoring program that came with my motherboard. So i restarted the computer and went into the BIOS. It reads that the +12V rail is running at 12.86 and sometimes 12.92. Is this bad?

Well, it's certainly not within the 5% tolerance range (11.4 - 12.6) that they rate them at.

If you've got reliable volt meter, check it with that to see if the PSU, or the monitoring program is out of whack.
My NeoPower 480 stays right at 12.250.

I suppose it would, but I'm not positive. Radio Shack has a fairly inexpensive Volt / Ohm Meter here

But I think I would be thinking about returning that unit if you've got the reciept, soon, if you paid for 5% tolerance, you should get 5% tolerance. :)

I was thinking that, but however I'm guessing that the bios is reading it wrong because some programs is reading dead on 12v...and I really dont think Antec psu would be off by almost 1v...and should 1v cause major issues right away?
