HOTFIX for Battlefield 2 v1.01 Coming Soon
First off, a HUGE thanks to all of you who emailed me in regards to the memory leak found in the update we released earlier this week (v1.01). Your emails found their way to our production team and they’re in the process of evaluating what needs to be done in order to get this fixed. In the meantime, and since the 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update we released earlier this week.

Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days.

NOTE: If you installed and are running the newer server files (Win and Linux versions) we made available earlier this week, please revert those as well. We found that those files had the same issues with memory leaks as did the v1.01 update. You can download the older versions here.

EA Really skewed up on this one. You would think they would find memory leaks before releasing the patch.

I have a friend who has the game and I'm wondering if I installed it on my PC whether we could both play online at the same time or not? It would save me buying the game if it's not a CD key game.

OK, bought it and played it and absolutely love it. It certainly feels and plays more like a battlefield than any other game I've played. It beats joint op's, America's army and black hawk down anyday.

No it doesn't. I personally think that it's much better than CoD. The graphics are better and it's more realistic. Battlefield 2 is more like a real battlefield than any other game IMHO. Planes, choppers, jeeps, tanks, APC's, artillery strikes. One of the best things about the game is the way that it's organised into squads with squad leaders and an overall commander to issue orders to the squad leaders. As a squad leader/commander, it's very easy to issue relevant orders such as calling in a supply drop or artillery strike.

Anyway, I could go on about BF2 other than to say I love it!

I had trouble with it since i bought it. First it wouldnt instal correctly so i manually installed it. Then i got memory leaks. EA needs to have patience when creating such games, or else stuff like this will happen.
