Warranty almost up HELP ASAP!

Just recently my system has developed this problem when I turn it on it powers up and boots to windows but my monitor doesn't ever turn on. It stays in the 'standby' state. I have to turn off and try again, sometimes several times to get this to work. I see a green light on each of my gtx 295s and they both sound as if they are fully powered. This same problem happens on sleep too. I thought the first video card was bad, and I know I have a good one in the second slot since its BRAND NEW, however even it is doing the same thing. So the problem occurs on two different cards, in 2 different pci slots, with both the 260.99 and 266.58 drivers. I am at a loss and technically my system is out of warranty but they were going to do this once more because of all the problems I have had. I need to know if I need to get video cards? Is it possible its the monitor? I have never had a problem with it and its only a year old but I can't comprehend what else it could be with two video cards in two different pcie slots... Please help

It could definitely be the monitor. It could definitely the GPUs too, just because one is new it doesn't mean it's defective. However, my money would be on the motherboard or power supply (RAM is a possibility too). The only way to tell is to either replace the part in question with one you're positive works or try out the part in a different machine.

If this is a prebuilt machine, then you should probably just send the whole thing in. I'd demand a replacement rather than a repair if you've had a lot of trouble with it. In Illinois we have a lemon law that says something along the lines that if a something has to be fixed three times in it's warranty period then they either have to refund or replace it with a brand new one.

Just ran the 250, it didn't work either. I tried an old crt monitor, no good there either. My conclusions are the monitors and GPUs are fine. They just replaced all 12gb of ram about 2 months ago and this is the first of this problem. It could be the motherboard fortunately I have my brand new never opened MSI big big bang x power x58 available but I REALLY don't feel up to swapping that out right now. I got it from www.cyberpowerpc.com. If you have the opportunity to deal with them some advice: DON'T! I bought it January 5th of 2010 and on day one it was BSOD I have had all my ram replaced 4 times, 5 gtx 295s, 1 gts250, 3 Motherboards and they still hadn't addressed my problem. I demanded that they replaced both 295s at the same time which finally fixed the original problem but I now have this. Oh and they wont replace it after 30 days. My warranty expired January 5th 2011 and they said they are willing to RMA the system to bring it in for repair since it was broken before but that isn't a solution based on the past. When they have it they keep it for over 4 weeks, (they have had it for 119 days since I've owned it) and say we want to ensure that it comes back to you in working order... YA RIGHT. Someone was supposed to call me monday and hasn't I call everyday with no answer or when they answer they say he WILL call today but doesn't. they have a 'Dispute Resolutions' department for slow and repeated repairs but have never emailed me back despite repeated attempts on my part. I truly believe they are screening my calls because they don't know what to do and have spent so much already. I asked 'so you have been busy?' The guy responded ya ever since january its non stop calls. My thought was 'that sure is a testimony to your quality.' When my first motherboard went bad they said it was damaged and I needed to buy one. So I tried but it was out of stock so I went to newegg. Well the last time they had my computer they scratched the case, the wiring is in disarray, and BROKE THE PCIe SLOT! straight up broke it off! Of course they wont pay for that because it isn't their part. I had MSI x58 platinum, went bad bought p6x58d premium, they said that the cause of my problem was bad motherboard so I went to get it RMA'd but didn't care for it anyway so I bought a MSI BB xpower (total now $650 on top of comp cost) Then they broke the pci slot i was talking about (another $300 out of my pocket) Turns out as of then the asus board was fine (may not be now). I'm in over $4000 on a comp that costed $2700! Not counting the $430 in shipping costs to get it to them. I have had 15 formats done, the last came to me with out even having windows activated, so I went to activate it and it said counterfeit software. They serial they used was bogus! It was ok because I have my discs but what the hell is going on. Believe me I would love to look into legal action but I have put out over $1500 just maintaining it I'd hate to sue and not win and 'have to pay their legal fees as denoted in the warranty contract'. I truly don't know where to go or what to do. This forum has been a savior since their support is like being Jewish and asking for directions from the SS in Nazi Germany! Someone should really spread this post and sticky it in the no-no department so others don't experience this ;). O and I payed $100 when I ordered it for next business day build and processing. I ordered friday night and expected (based on what they said) it to ship monday, no the order wasn't even processed till tuesday the 5th and shippped that friday! They did not refund my money! Sorry for the rant but the flood gates were opened!!!
