recently my pc has been acting slow

the taskbar freezes on me so i cant acess any programs on it

if i went on the start button and went to settings it would freeze on me the only thing i could do was turn my pc on and off again (by the button on the pc not in te start menu) i unistalled avast antivirus free edition via safe mode because it was the most recent download and before that it was fine restarted and it was fine

i dont understand how Avast wrecked my pc

anybody else had the same problem

Most likely just a bad install. However, it all depends on the other software installed on your machine too.

well the other pc that just got wrecked i don't use very often only for gaming once in a while. So the antivirus was avast and from what i remember it updated and then shutdown for automatic updates then i rebooted this mourning it wouldn't load it was just stuck on the loging on screen for ages.So i went to safe boot then unistalled avast and it was fine then i put security essentials on.

On my laptop i installed Avast and the same as above happend then i rebooted and it let me log on but the taskbar freezes on me programs take ages to load up it was really wierd it was like a pirated edition of windows (but it wasn't because i bought a key from microsoft). Then i safe booted, removed avast then it was fine

it appears i am not the only person who has had this problem with avast

shame because it was nice software

^^^I likewise havent had a problem with avast, AVg is another story but avast has been smooth sailing for the last few month.

I dont want to sound like an idiot, but you dont have anything you shouldnt have on your computers do you or anything that me lead to problems?. I mean iv installed avast on friends and familys computer (atleast 5) and not one has had complaints.

I don't think it would of been avast, sometimes you just find some antivirus programs work well with your PC or they don't, i usually go through a few before i find one that's a good fit :)

Ryan do you have any access protections enabled while installing Avast?
If yes, disable them all and attempt to install Avast again.

By the way could you give us more detailed informations such as what operating system you are using and what service packs it has and do you have any updates installed...
