i ordered this hard drive from tigerdirect.com but i forgot to read that it was an OEM hard drive. so it didnt come with any screws or cables. First i dont know wat type of cable to buy. i know it has to be a sata-150 but should i get it from maxtor or should i get a cheap one? and is there anywhere i can the screws or do i not need them becuase my hard drive racks are vertical and pretty tight fitted so it would hold it in nicely?

Any sata cable will work. As for screws, I'm not sure what you mean by verticle racks but a trip to the hardware store should net you what you need, failing that a computer shop probably has a bunch of extras they'll give/sell to you
 
like the hard drive ports are facing up instead of forward. but now i have a bigger problems. i got the cable put the hard drive in plugged it into the mobo and the power and then turned my computer on and it cant find it. i dont know wat to do


o and i tried running speedfan and it only finds my other hard drive

since it is a SATA hard drive, you are going to have to download SATA drivers for it. Go to the maxtor website.
 
i did that and there i found hte number to maxtor adn callled up and it ended up it had to do something with my bios. so its all solved. but im just wondering when u first install a hard drive how long should it take to format it.
 
format time is dependant on size and format type, a complete for that drive will probably take upwards of an hour.
