watching dvd from differente regions

You have to upgrade the firmware in your DVD player. I don't recommend doing this though unless your DVD player is expendable. One slip up and the drive is done. I screwed one up quite easily trying to update the firmware with the latest revision that I downloaded from the OEM website. Never again.
 
Most drives allow you to switch regions something like 5 times. I beleive the manufacturer's website for your drive would have some sort of program to switch it...
 
It is five times, yes.. (AFAIK). After that it is locked though. The only option after that is firmware upgrades and like I said, I really don't recommend it.

I know there are some programs on the internet that you can buy to watch dvds from any region, but I sincerely question whether they work, because region is coded in firmware which detects the code in the .VOB file.
 
yea, i went on the internet and there seems to be programs that lets u watch dvd from different regions. i used the trial and it works! but, does anone know a good program online that is crackable/free?

No. If it's well worth it, just buy it. Plus, discussion of such is against forum rules.
