Water Cooling Question

I was looking into geting water cooling for my new system. Does any1 have water cooling and find theirs realy helpful. Is it worth the money (I saw some running around 100-180 bucks USD)? Also how does it work? Do you always have to refill it with water and does it cool everything down or just the cpu? Also does it cool it much more than a heatsink fan? Thanks for any help

Watercooling is indeed neato and quite helpful. Whather it's usefor for the average Joe ... probably not. The cost is entirely dependent on the components you get (if you buy one of them kits yer prolly not spending your money wisely). No you dont have to replace the water too often and what it cools down depends on what waterblocks you get.

Well the reason I asked is because i am still using the stock fan for my processor. Do u have any reccomendations then for a 3.2 Ghtz socket 775 heatsink?

At 3.2 Ghz, its gonna be a pretty meaty fan you've got there, which is probably quite loud. Water cooling is probably on the agenda and quite quickly. Not really sure what make or model to get but the more expensive you go the better your kit will be. DO NOT SKIMP ON THIS ASPECT OF YOUR PC, THIS IS A LARGE AND VERY DELICATE PIECE OF HARDWARE..........

Are you having cooling issues, stock S775 cooling is usually pretty dang good For <$200 you can prolly get a halfassed watercooled setup but id question its effectiveness and value

Looking at his specs we notice two things

Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghtz Hyperthread technology
1 gig ddr2 corsair

Which means hes got a S775 processor (which really also means it should prolly be labeled as Pentium 4 530 but thats another issue). Being a S775 CPU (and cooler) -- they really arent that bad for noise =

my processor's temp is around 135 degrees and has jumped to 170 average and i even bought a new thermal compound. If the stock fan is good enough why is it so hot. any sudgestions??

135 F comes to 57C and 170 comes to ~77C, which to me sm very high. But I run AMD which from what I hear runs cooler than Intel, I think in any case though 77C (170F) is too high, and I would reccomend new cooling, whether it be HSF of your watercooling system.

Way better....I run P4 3.4E S478 which we all know runs hot compared to S775. My temp runs at 48c-52c., and its a worth the money.

Heres how it works, Cpu block absorves the heat coming from your CPU, water cools your CPU block and at the same time absorves the heat from the block, which then runs to the Radiator which dissipates the heat with the help of the Rad fan and the cycle goes on.
